Viverridae
There are 6 sub-families, 20 genera and 34 species of viverrids. Most viverrids
have long slender bodies and heads, short legs and bushy tails. Their diet consists
of small mammals, birds, eggs and some fruits and nuts. Many live primarily
in trees although a few species are terrestrial. All species have scent glands
used for defense and marking.
